Safeguarding responsibilities

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility within the club and if you have any concerns, this should be discussed and reported. If you think a child, young person or adult at risk, is in immediate danger of abuse or risk of harm, this must be reported immediately to the police by calling 999. If you have been approached for help, try to reassure them that they have done the right thing by speaking out and telling you.

If the matter does not require immediate attention, you can initially discuss the issue confidentially with one of our Club Welfare Officers for advice and support. They will then be able to provide an appropriate response and organise any necessary liaison with all relevant agencies and persons concerned. All efforts will be made to keep the information confidential. The information will only be shared with those that need to know in the best interests of the child, young person or vulnerable adult. Any member of our organisation working with children, young persons or adults at risk, who meets the eligibility criteria is required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check and complete BG recognised safeguarding training.
